Alameda County Democrats oppose Price recall

Dem labels recall committee 'sore losers'; County supervisor says DA Price hasn't been in office long enough to be recalled; Kansen Chu is done, donates campaign cash to history

RECALL OF PAMELA PRICE

—RECALL RESO—Alameda County Democrats overwhelmingly approved a resolution on Wednesday night to oppose the emerging recall of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price.

—The resolution was approved with support of 83 percent of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee.

—“Therefore, be it resolved that the Alameda County Democratic Party condemns the effort to recall District Attorney Pamela Price a few months after the voters of Alameda County chose DA Price in a decisive election, before her policies can even have the desired impact,” the resolution read.

—In addition, the local Democratic Party will support “educational and electoral efforts to the campaign to stop any potential recall of our elected District Attorney.”

—A group named Save Alameda For Everyone (SAFE) was created on July 17 to seek the recall of Price. The creation of the committee allows it to begin raising money for the recall campaign.

—No money is known to have been received by the recall effort and little is known about SAFE’s specifics reasons for recalling Price.

—But frustration in the community, in particular, among Asian Americans, has followed Price’s reluctance to charge several high-profile violent crimes with stronger sentences. The murder of a security guard at a Home Depot in Pleasanton has also fueled anger in the Tri-Valley toward Price’s policies.

—Price attended the central committee and observed the recall discussion and vote from the back of the room. After the vote, she thanked central committee members…
