PRICE RECALL
—CHARTER CONFUSION—A day after Save Alameda For Everyone (SAFE) filed a notice of intention to recall Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, comes confirmation on Wednesday evening that Alameda County officials have no idea how to administer the recall campaign.
—Alameda County’s Registrar of Voters (ROV) has not conducted a recall election for at least the past three decades, Alameda County counsel Donna Ziegler said in a statement. It’s unknown whether the county has ever conducted a recall, she added.
—“The ROV is currently analyzing the relationship between the recall provisions set forth in the County Charter and those found in State law to determine the path and timeline for conducting a recall of a County officer. The ROV will provide further details to the public regarding the recall procedures once that work is complete, without delay," Ziegler wrote.
—Confusion over the County Charter, in regards to a recall, is not new. Supporters of the campaign to recall Price have voiced concerns for more than a month about this exact issue.
—In addition, news of the group’s notice of intention on Tuesday was not a surprise. SAFE formed a committee to begin fundraising on July 11.
