—On Monday, Nikki Fortunato Bas spent a relatively large chunk of her day tending to the business of the Oakland City Council rather than preparing for Tuesday, her first day as an Alameda County supervisor.
Bas made her debut at the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, stressing she would keep focus on social services issues and housing. Bas also vowed to help lead the board in confronting the incoming Trump administration.
—Alameda County Democrats will meet in Oakland tonight for their first meeting of the new year to swear in the much-anticipated new crop of central committee members. Alameda County Democratic Party Chair Igor Tregub is expected to retain his post.
The frontrunner for vice-chair is Aisha Knowles, a trustee on the Alameda County Board of Education, and the top overall vote-getter in the central committee elections held last March.
