ALAMEDA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
—Alameda County Assistant DA Terry Wiley leads civil rights attorney Pamela Price, 52-48. Price won the June primary by 16 points over Wiley but failed to gain a majority of the vote to avoid tonight’s runoff.
ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
—The Alameda County Board of Supervisors candidate who will replace the late Wilma Chan in District 3, former Alameda Councilmember Lena Tam is the surprising leader with 55 percent to Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan’s 45 percent.
10TH STATE SENATE DISTRICT
—Fremont Mayor Lily Mei narrowly leads Hayward Councilmember Aisha Wahab narrowly leads in the 10th State Senate District seat vacated by termed out state Sen. Bob Wieckowski. Over two counties, Mei leads Wahab, 50.85 percent to 49.15 percent. District covers areas from Hayward to Sunnyvale in Santa Clara County.
20TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
—Alameda County labor leader Liz Ortega-Toro leads Dublin Councilmember Shawn Kumagai, 58-42, in the 20th Assembly District seat vacated by retiring Assemblymember Bill Quirk. District covers areas from San Leandro to Fremont and Dublin.
OAKLAND MAYOR
—Loren Taylor leads Sheng Taho, 36-29, in first-place votes. Ignacio De La Fuente is third with 12 percent. Ranked-choice voting tabulations have not yet begun.
OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL
—Nikki Fortunato Bas, Janani Ramachandran, and Kevin Jenkins are heading to domnating victories.
SAN LEANDRO
—Bryan Azevedo leads with 41 percent, followed by Juan Gonzalez at 34 percent, and Lee Thomas at 22 percent. Ranked-choice voting tabulations not yet applied
HAYWARD CITY COUNCIL
—Hayward Planning Commissioners Julie Roche (24 percent) and Daniel Goldstein (16.31 percent) have the early edge for two at-large seats on the Hayward City Council. Progressive leader George Syrop is a close third with 13. 39 percent.
UNION CITY COUNCIL
—Union City Councilmember Jaime Patino leads Chuck Kennedy in District 1, 60-40, according to early returns. Jeff Wang leads the field wth 48 percent to Kristy Boer’s 30 percent in District 2, and Scott Sakakihara leads Vipan Bajwa, 62-38 in District 3.
FREMONT CITY COUNCIL
District 3 Fremont Councilmember Jenny Kassan leads with 45 percent of the vote over Kathy Kimberlin at 42 percent. In the open District 2 seat, Fremont School Boardmember Desrie Campbell narrowly leads Robert Daulton, 42-40. District 4 Fremont Councilmember Yang Shao leads Bryce Beckel, 58-42. In the high-profile and controversial Fremont school board race, incumbent Dianne Jones leads Jennifer Kavoniaris, ??-??.
NEWARK MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL
—Newark Councilmember Michael Hannon is on the way to becoming Newark’s next mayor. Hannon leads Jason Miguel with two-thirds of the vote. Newark Councilmember Mike Bucci and Matthew Jorgens are 1-2 in the race for two at-large seats.
LIVERMORE MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL
—In Livermore’s expensive mayoral race, John Marchand, a former Livermore mayor, appears headed for a return to the mayor’s office. Marchand leads local Realtor Mony Nop, 52-48. In District 1, Evan Branning leads Carol Wahrer, 60-40. In District 2, Mel Ben Barrientos leads Mel Chiong, 57-43.
PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL
—In District 1, Jeff Nibert leads Dean Wallace, 62-48. In District 2, Councilmember Julie Testa leads Jamie Yee, 45-35.
DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL
—Dublin Councilmember Jean Josey is heading toward re-election with 47 percent of the vote in the three-candidate race for two at-large seats. Qaadri Kashef is second with 32 percent, followed by Lynna Lan Tien Nguyen Do with 21 percent.
