☕️MORNING BUZZ
—Nearly six months later, the East Bay will learn, at least, in part what precipitated the FBI’s raids in Oakland last summer and what is the immediate fallout.
—The FBI has scheduled a press conference for 9 a.m. this morning at its office in San Francisco.
—Recalled Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao will be indicted, according to multiple reports, as will her partner, Andre Jones, a former city council staffer. The charges are unknown at this time.
—Days after June 20 raid on Thao’s home, she professed her innocence and declared that she was not a target of the FBI’s investigation.
—On the same day, the FBI also raided the homes and offices of California Waste Solutions owners David Duong and Andy Duong.
—No word has leaked about whether any of the Duongs will be indicted today.
—Also unclear is the immediate fate of San Leandro Councilmember Bryan Azevedo, whose home was searched by FBI agents on Wednesday morning.
—Azevedo has ties to the Duongs and traveled to Vietnam on an official trade mission paid for by the Vietnamese American Business Association, which is backed by the Duongs.
