FREMONT MAYOR
—SHAKING BACON—An independent expenditure committee in Fremont’s highly competitive mayoral campaign is betting that embattled Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price is radioactive to Fremont voters.
—The attack mailer may be the first to attempt to use Price as a strategy to undermine an opponent.
—New mailer sent to Fremont voters declares, “If you like District Attorney Pam Price, you’ll love Vinnie Bacon.”
—Bacon, a former Fremont councilmember, is facing current Fremont Councilmember Raj Salwan, and two other candidates for the open mayoral seat.
—The attack mailer paid for by Preserving Agriculture in Alameda County, an IE supporting Salwan’s campaign, also asserts that “Vinnie Bacon wants to bring DA Pam Price’s failed policies on crime to Fremont.”
—Bacon has long supported Price. He was a signer of the resolution in August 2023 calling for the Alameda County Democratic Party to oppose the Price recall effort in its earliest stages.
PRICE RECALL
—DEAR LORD BABY JESUS—The San Francisco Chronicle published an article on Thursday morning alleging Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price allowed the statute of limitations to lapse on 1,000 misdemeanor cases and citations.
—Later that morning, Price held a press conference in Oakland and provided a stemwinder of a speech, again labeling the recall campaign against her “undemocratic,” fueled by wealthy Republicans, and racist, even though its co-leader is African American.
—Price also equated herself to Baby Jesus.
—“I do go to church,” Price said. “Hello? In the Bible, the stories of how they came—what the rulers would do to stop—to kill the children of Israel. To kill and to find out after Baby Jesus was born.”
“They did not act because of what they had done. They took that course of action to destroy that community because of what they were going to do.
“So, in January of 2023, people attacked me not because of what I had done, but because of the fear of what I was going to do. For them it is dangerous for a Black woman to have this much power.”…
