It's a numbers game from here on out
Terry Wiley continued to fundraise well. So did Ignacio De La Fuente in Oakland, but some other big name candidates didn't do as well
ELECTION 2022
Days until Election Day: 36. Days until ballots are mailed: 7.
—POCKETBOOK ISSUES—As a whole, countywide and local candidates reported somewhat middling snapshots of their campaign’s finances. The most recent campaign finance reporting period covering activity from July 1 through Sept. 24 really doesn’t provide much new information, at least, to glean any changes in the contours of each race.
—Terry Wiley, the Alameda County District Attorney candidate, again posted formidable fundraising numbers. Wiley, who led local primary races in fundraising, reported a haul of $257, 000 over the past two months.
—In Oakland’s mayoral race, Ignacio De La Fuente clearly has experience in raising money. His campaign easily outraised the entire field, posting $165,000 in contributions since July 1. Loren Taylor, meanwhile, still tops the mayoral field with $276,000 in cash reserves.
—On the flipside, Oakland mayoral candidate Sheng Thao appears content to rely on a heavily-funded IE backed by labor to fuel her fall campaign. Thao raised just $65,000 since July 1. Lena Tam in the Alameda County Supervisor race in District 3 raised only $50,000 over the past two months, a figure badly trailing her opponent, Rebecca Kaplan’s $138,000 in contributions over the same period.
—Below is campaign finance numbers for Alameda County DA, Alameda County Board of Supervisors, 20th Assembly District, 10th State Senate District, Oakland Mayor, the three Oakland City Council races, and Independent Expenditure Committees, when applicable. Check tomorrow and Wednesday for numbers from other East Bay races…
