'Let’s get something on the books': Board of Supervisors pass Just Cause Ordinance

—It only took five years, but tenants in unincorporated Alameda County have some semblance of a Just Cause Ordinance. However, except in only a few instances, the new ordinance is essentially in line with existing state law.
The vote on Tuesday gave new Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas a chance to draw a line in the sand with county housing providers. She called the ordinance insufficient.
There’s many reasons why it’s taken so long for the county to pass tenant protections, but the individual who did more to stymie its approval now works for Bas.
