Mia Bonta weighs in on the Alameda County DA race
So that's why Livermore's former mayor jumped off the June primary ballot

—BONTA’S PICK—The contentious race for Alameda County district attorney has gained a new wrinkle. Assemblymember Mia Bonta endorsed Seth Steward on Monday, his campaign tells East Bay Insiders. Steward is among four candidates looking to replace Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, who is not seeking re-election this June.
—Bonta’s endorsements adds an element of gravitas to Steward’s campaign, which has remained outside the fray of what has been a combative campaign. Steward has also been lauded as a fresh voice in a race that includes two Alameda County prosecutors and a candidate who participated in the 2018 race for DA.
—”I’m really excited,” Steward said in an interview. “I think Mia Bonta’s endorsement changes the race and adds a level of seriousness to our campaign.” Steward said he had previously sought Mia Bonta’s endorsement and received the good news on Monday.
—Mia Bonta’s selection in the DAs race also raises the question of whether her husband, state Attorney General Rob Bonta, will also weigh in. But, Rob Bonta has bad history with one of the current field of DA candidates…
