Oakland mayoral candidate sent anti-Semitic email to some Alameda County Democratic Party officials
Local city councils begin return from August recess
ELECTION 2022
Days until Election Day: 63.
**Substack suffered an outage for a few hours this afternoon. Sorry for the late email.
—DEMS ORDER APOLOGY—Over the years, Oakland mayoral Peter Liu has uttered many racially inflammatory comments during his campaigns over the years for public office at nearly every level of government.
—But a highly-charged email sent by Liu to some Alameda County Democratic Central Committee members last Sunday is receiving a sharp rebuke for its stark language toward Jewish people.
—Alameda County Democratic Party officials will approve a resolution on Wednesday night condemning the anti-Semitic email, while ordering Liu to retract his statements and offer an apology. Liu could not be reached for comment this afternoon.
—Liu was angered by the Temple Sinai of Oakland’s decision not to invite him to their Sept. 15 Oakland mayoral candidate forum, according to the missive. Liu claims the temple also excluded him from a candidate forum during the 2014 Oakland mayoral campaign.
—“These shitty Jews are once again trying to disrespect the voters of Oakland in rigging the election process by promoting a few candidates they’ve handpicked to be in front of Jew controlled media,” Liu wrote. “I am sick of these corrupt Jews and their media allies deceiving the public.”
—Over the years, Liu has promoted a video game to help solve Oakland’s problem, advocated for turning Lake Merritt into a waterpark, all the while getting himself periodically banned from some social media sites. Liu’s rudimentary campaign logo has always featured his surname with the first two letters shaped like a handgun and magazine clip.
—Some voters at recent Oakland mayoral candidate forums, such as one recently held at Laney College, were likely unaware of Liu’s past. His off-the-wall comments about teaching disadvantage children to take of themselves by earning $30,000 a month, and offering 60 percent discounts to seniors for his proposed waterfront, received laughter and, in one case, applause.
