COUNTY NEWS
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS/DISTRICT ATTORNEY
—ON SECOND THOUGHT—A week ago, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price’s budget request to the Board of Supervisors for $690,000 in funding that included $182,000 for a private office was postponed to today’s meeting.
—The unwanted attention the self-proclaimed “Madame DA” might receive for asking for a pricey new office appears to have led her to amend the budget request to remove $385,000 in total construction upgrades to the DA’s office on Oakport Street in Oakland..
—The budget request on Tuesday’s agenda now includes $305,000 for onboarding services related to new employees at the DA’s office.
—The amount will be used to offset the new administration’s start-up costs, in particular, a third-party vendor helping with the onboarding of new staff earlier this year. In a memo, Price laid blame for the expenditure on outgoing Alameda County DA Nancy O’Malley.
—ROOTS IN OAKLAND—Last Friday, the African American Sports & Entertainment Group (AASEG) and Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Club announced a cooperation agreement with the City of Oakland and Alameda County for a potential new home at the Coliseum.
—The Alameda County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will formally direct county staff to begin negotiations with the City of Oakland and the Coliseum Authority for what could one day lead to construction of a “temporary modular stadium” for the soccer clubs at 8000 Coliseum Way, better known as the site of the former Malibu Grand Prix and its speeding go-karts.
