TENANT PROTECTIONS
—SPECTER OF ANOTHER STALEMATE—Wednesday night’s Board of Supervisors tenant protection ad hoc committee meeting raised some eyebrows among the housing providers in attendance at the closed door gathering.
—In March, the ad hoc committee was formed after landlords and tenants in unincorporated Alameda County failed over a two-year period to reach consensus on a host of new tenant protections.
—However, the fresh eyes brought to the negotiation table by ad hoc members, Supervisors Elisa Márquez and David Haubert, may have been squandered at the meeting, leaving the possibility of yet another stalemate between landlords and tenants.
—The meeting in San Lorenzo on Wednesday evening included Márquez, Haubert, county staff, and housing providers.
Tenant groups will meet with the ad hoc committee and county staff at a meeting on May 23. All sides will meet at a joint meeting sometime in June…
