—STEP ONE—East Bay Insiders Podcast listeners know that I’ve been talking about the most likely avenue for a recall of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price would be led by deep-pocketed members of the Asian American community.
—In past elections, the money in the Asian American community, which usually comes from moderate donors, simply hasn’t had anywhere to wisely put their cash in deep blue Alameda County.
—With the tragic death of Jasper Wu, the two-year-old who was shot on Interstate 880 while traveling through a gun fight, appears to be a galvanizing moment.
—Reports last week that Price is reducing the charges against the defendants, Ivory Bivens and Trevor Green, by removing the possibility of a life sentence, has furthered angered the Asian American community, and others.
—In recent days I’ve been hearing quite a bit of chatter about a recall movement (possibly two separate efforts) beginning to round up financial support.
—One obvious potential effort for a recall is by Oakland Chinatown business leaders. But there’s another angle here that should make Price pause.
—On Friday, Garry Tan, the president and CEO of Y Combinator, the world-renowned tech incubator, put out feelers for potential supporters of a Price recall…
