ALAMEDA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
—PRICE SKEPTICS—The Pamela Price revolution at the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office continues.
—A defense attorney who represented a client in Alameda County courts was sharply critical of Price’s office over what he believed was a lenient plead deal, even though it helped his own client.
—Bay Area attorney Michael Cardoza told the East Bay Times that Alameda County voters may have wanted change at the DA’s office, but they may not have understand what type of change Price has in mind.
—Nevertheless, Cardoza told the paper that he attempted to manipulate Price’s new directives by urging for an even more lenient deal, but the DA’s office denied him.
—To be clear, Price was very clear about cleaning house at the DA’s office, in addition, to making significant policy changes. It’s not at all surprising there has been a number of dismissals and exits by county prosecutors, along with internal leakers bashing the office.
—But what’s interesting is the criticism is now coming from legal experts outside the DA’s office.
—Last month, an Alameda County judge expressed disbelief with Price’s deal with a man who murdered three people.
—Also, last week, the parents of Jasper Wu, the 23-year-old boy who was killed by a stray bullet on Interstate 800 in 2021, said they fear Price will also offer the accused gunman a lenient sentence.
