—WHERE’S MY VOTER GUIDE?!—A growing number of voters in Alameda County say they have not yet received the county’s voter information guide. Alameda County Registrar of Voters Tim Dupuis acknowledged his office has fielded questions about missing voter guides.
—The last bulk mailing by the county’s Berkeley-based printing vendor was Oct. 7, Dupuis told the Election Commission on Thursday.
—Dupuis offered no explanation for the late-arriving guides. (I received mine after receiving the vote-by-mail ballot.)
—However, Dupuis suggested mail theft, a statewide problem, could be a culprit. “Theyre’ not just taking the mail out of the carriers,” he said. “They’re actually taking the entire truck.”
[If you have not received the voter information, you can view it on the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website. To access your guide, you must provide your driver’s license and last four digits of your Social Security number.]
Candidates, in particular, those in low-funded, down ballot races, might also be upset about the late-arriving voter information guide. Having your ballot statement published in the guide costs thousands of dollars.
