Vol. VI, No. 1,284

—Election night delivered surprises across the East Bay.

In the race to replace former Rep. Eric Swalwell, Democrat Aisha Wahab opened a commanding lead, but the battle for second place remains fluid as Republican Wendy Huang threatens to overtake Democrat Melissa Hernandez.

The night’s biggest shock may be unfolding in the 10th State Senate District, where Republican Linda Price—largely absent from the campaign trail—is poised to advance to November alongside self-funded Democrat Scott Sakakihara.

Oakland’s Measure E parcel tax is trailing despite requiring only a simple majority. Two other revenues measures are also failing, suggesting a possible tax revolt is brewing in the East Bay.

Meanwhile, appointed District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson is headed for a decisive victory over recalled former DA Pamela Price.

Plus: Rep. Ro Khanna cruises, Ethan Agarwal stumbles; key judicial races remain razor-thin, and the early winners and losers from a pivotal primary night.
