ELECTION 2024
88 days to Election Day
ALAMEDA COUNTY DEMOCRATS
—TOUGH VOTE POSTPONED—Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price and her advocates were ready on Wednesday night to make their case to county Democrats that they should oppose the recall question slated for the Nov. 5.
—A leader of the recall had prepared their own case for removing Price from office also had a presentation prepared.
—The item before the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee on Wednesday, however, was quickly withdrawn.
—No specific reason given for the postponement.
—Igor Tregub, the chair of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee said several members told him previously that they would prefer the Price recall question be discussed along with ballot measures at the Sept. 4 meeting.
—Back in 2023, when the recall was in its infancy, the central committee voted to oppose the recall of Price and pledged resources to thwart the attempt.
—Central committee members that also serve as elected officials, and incumbents and candidates running in the fall election, are likely reticent about pledging support for Price when the DA appears unpopular in most areas of the county.
Editor’s note: We’re coming up on the three-year anniversary of the East Bay Insiders newsletter and there’s a lot to celebrate.
New subscriptions are following a consistent upward trajectory, and monthly page views are above 100,000 a month.
In addition, our initiative this year to begin hosting live podcasts, informative panel discussions, and soon, real debates, not candidate forums, has proven to be a smashing success.
New features are also planned for the newsletter, including in-depth daily coverage of Election 2024, potentially one of the most pivotal election cycles in East Bay history.
In order to reach these objectives and continuing to improve our daily product, the yearly and monthly subscription rates will increase to $40 a year, and $15 a month, respectively, starting on Sept. 1.
It’s the first rate increase in the newsletter’s history after charging the lowest amounts Substack allows.
In the meantime, I look forward to chatting with you over your morning coffee on Monday!
Thank you for you support,
steve
