SUNOL
—THE COMEBACK—Ryan Jergensen was recalled by Sunol Glen school district voters last July. Undeterred, Jergensen pulled papers on Wednesday to win back his seat on the school board.
—Jergensen was recalled on July 2 by less than four points in a school district of only 825 registered voters. Turnout, though, was 62 percent.
—No other prospective candidate has filed for the seat, as of late Wednesday. The filing deadline is Friday at 5 p.m.
—The recall left the three-member Sunol Glen school board down to a single trustee. Alameda County Board of Education Trustees Cheryl Cook-Kallio and Aisha Knowles were appointed the Sunol Glen school board on a temporary basis.
—Last month, the school board decided to begin the process of appointing a Sunol resident to fill the remaining two years on Jergensen’s former term, and allow voters to elect a candidate to the four-year seat this November.
