Labor union joins DA Pamela Price recall effort
What does it mean for Price: IE supporting recall committee reaches $1 million in contributions

PRICE RECALL
—LABOR PAIN—A significant new development has emerged in the campaign to recall Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price. A labor union is pitching in to help get the recall question on the ballot.
—The Operating Engineers Local Union 3 contributed $25,000 to Supporters of Recall Pamela Price, the group primarily funding the recall campaign.
—The union is one of the most influential in the East Bay, and its Political Action Committee is one of the most well-financed, reporting more than $1 million in cash reserves, through Dec. 31.
—The question now is what does the move by the Operating Engineers Local 3 mean for other local unions? Is this an isolated case ,or will others join?
—Price’s campaign has gone to lengths to portray the recall as funded by wealthy real estate interests. The argument gets harder to make if the recall is also funded by union workers.
—Price’s campaigns for district attorney in 2018 and 2022 were run without much union support. If anything, labor in the East Bay has generally been agnostic about Price. But, something has definitely changed.
