TRANSPORTATION
—CATCH-UP TIME—Unincorporated Alameda County has work to do before it’s anywhere close to compliance with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s (MTC) Transit-Oriented Development Policy.
—Compliance means securing two subjects within the categories of production, preservation, and protection of housing units.
—When it comes to production, Alameda County has secured none of seven prescribed items. For preservation, the county has notched one of seven.
—Among 10 subjects for preservation o f existing housing units, Alameda County has fulfilled none.
—A presentation before the Board of Supervisors Transportation and Planning Committee suggests approval of a Just Cause ordinance for the unincorporated areas and rent stabilization would fulfill the preservation requirement.
—Failure to comply with MTC’s policy by Fiscal Year 2025-26 could place transportation funding at risk, county staff will tell county supervisors this morning.
—This including a One Bay Area Grant, worth $10 million annually, and a Regional Early Action Planning Grant, which is brings in between $400,000 and $600,000 annually.
