ELECTION 2024
11 days to Election Day
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS-DISTRICT 5
—BAUTERS BETTER—The Oakland Chamber of Commerce poll this week delivered a message that some onlookers had already felt with their gut.
—John Bauters’ campaign the Board of Supervisors in District 5 has taken a decisive position with Election Day around the corner.
—The poll showed Bauters, an Emeryville councilmember, leading Nikki Fortunato Bas, the Oakland City Council president, by a margin of 44 percent to 28 percent, with 28 percent undecided.
—Finance reports released by both campaigns on Thursday show Bauters also holds a commanding lead on the money front.
—Bauters outraised Bas during the past month, according to filings that represent the final reporting period before the Nov. 5 election.
—He also outspent Bas by more than $125,000 over the same period, and holds a 4-to-1 advantage in remaining cash reserves, through Oct. 19.
—For the year, the two runoff campaigns to replaces outgoing District 5 Supervisor Keith Carson, have spent a total of $1.5 million.
